Lung Cancer Signs You Keep on Ignoring

Even though lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, many people don’t know much about it. Lung cancer accounts for up to 30% of cancer deaths in the United States. Environmental factors and genetic predisposition contribute to this cancer’s development, but being a smoker is considered the most influential contributor of all.

Lung cancer is aggressive and dangerous, especially because most of the time the symptoms don’t appear until the cancer is in its advanced stage. But there are some symptoms that you can watch out for in the early stages, so you can have it treated while you still can.

Early Warning Signs You Have to Know about Lung Cancer

Do not EVER ignore the following symptoms of lung cancer to help you save your life:

1. Chronic Cough: If you had a cold or perhaps you caught bronchitis, your cough could last for up to two weeks. There will even be other signs of infection, such as runny nose and high body temperature. However, if you just started coughing for no reason and it lasts for more than two weeks, make sure that you visit your doctor for a checkup

2. Shortness of Breath: When you cannot breathe well or you are always panting despite not doing anything, this can be a sign that you have a lung disease or even a heart disease. If you don’t have any heart issues, consult with a physician as this can be one of the first signs of lung cancer.

3. Chest Pain: Such pain can either be sharp or dull. If you have cancer, this can radiate to your shoulder and your back, not just your chest. There are other times when chest pain can be a sign of other problems, such as heart disease and psychological distress. Therefore, it is wise to never ignore any kind of chest pain.

4. Weight Loss: Oftentimes, unexplained weight loss, accompanied by the other symptoms that are mentioned above, can signal that there is something wrong with your health. If your lung cancer is at its advanced stage, this can produce a general feeling of fatigue and weakness, along with apparent weight loss.

If you have the indicators of lung cancer mentioned, you should not panic because they can still be unrelated to the cancer. It is always a good idea to go to your doctor and have yourself checked to eliminate any doubts and concerns of having lung cancer.
